There is a King in you

Posted by cia-admin Categories: Articles

I vividly recall the day I came to understand the meaning of my name ‘Henry’, even though it’s been over 20 years since that time. I came across a book containing the meaning of names. In there I discovered Henry means ‘Ruler of a district’. I recall instantly feeling very good about myself, thinking to myself so I am a ruler (although I was still in junior high school) and I never knew it. It was like a new discovery that changed how I perceived myself forever.

Since that time I have met a few people who after learning the meaning of my name joke that, ‘Oh you must be a small king to be ruling over just a district’. Why not a region or country? I remind them of Washington DC, though a district, yet houses the most powerful man on earth. As you may have guessed, the argument generally ends after this statement. Now here is where I am going to; although I have been talking about the meaning of a name, the reality of that meaning extends beyond just a name. There is a king in every man waiting to be discovered; waiting to find expression. It does not matter whether you are named Henry or not, this truth applies to you. An understanding of this reality can change your life forever.

Today, I will discuss two of the implications of this reality which I have come to know and have changed my life forever. I hope you also will embrace this reality, and I promise you that your life is about to be turned around for good.

Kings rule: Kings are born to rule. Rulership is in their DNA. A king is sovereign over his province and nothing or no one can challenge his authority (not without consequences). Although you may not have a physical province over which you rule, you are meant to rule over life situations. There should be nothing, and I mean nothing powerful enough to overwhelm you, because there is a king in you. It does not matter whether it is an examination or financial constraints or addictions or sickness, you name the situation, you are much more than it, because there is a king in you. Enough of living in defeat, it is time to rise up and rule as you were born to do. The eagle in you has long been on the ground perching with hens. You were born to soar, you belong to the skies. It’s time to spread out your wings and soar over the storms that have for very long threatened to blow you away. Come on rise up; develop a winning mentality and start to be who you were destined to be. Winning in life starts with you getting a right perspective of who you are. Once you get that winning attitude, nothing can hold you down ever again.
Kings are exceptions to the rule: in many ways, kings are exceptions to the rule. Others work and pay taxes, kings earn from the taxes of others. A King is usually the last person to attend an event, yet the first to leave the same event. Just last week, the Queen of England visited the Republic of Ireland. Security in Ireland was at its highest. Security personnel from both Ireland and the UK were deployed to ensure the safety of the Queen. Now that’s royalty, no one else can create such an effect. How does this principle apply to you? Expect to be an exception. I expect to do an examination and pass regardless of whether or not the examination has a high failure rate. I expect to apply for a post that people say I am not qualified for and get it. I expect to succeed where many have failed. Why do I expect all these? It’s because I am an exception to the rule. And guess what, life gives you what you demand of it and not what you think you deserve. It’s time to place a demand on life and it’ll give you what you demand. There is a king in you.
